Is equal the same as equivalent?
Equal means they have the same end value, like 5 + 5 + 5 = 3 • 5 = 5 • 3 = 15. Equivalent means not only are they equal, they are also of the same data type. In other words, they mean the same thing. Depending on the language, numbers and expressions that look the same don’t always mean the same.
What are unequal sets?
Two sets are said to be unequal set when all the elements of one set are not present in the another set. The sets may have different elements, then the sets are called as unequal sets.
Which of following are equal sets?
Answer: all below sets are equal. A = { x|3x-1=2} B = { x|x is a natural number but x is neither prime nor composite} C = {x|x∈N,x<2}
What makes an equal set an equivalent set?
The only thing that matters in an equal set is that the same elements are present in each set. The equivalent set definition states that in a simple set, there is an equal number of elements.
When are two sets of elements equivalent to each other?
In general, we can say, two sets are equivalent to each other if the number of elements in both the sets is equal. And it is not necessary that they have same elements, or they are a subset of each other.
Is the cardinal number of equal sets equal?
As both the sets of an equal set have same elements and same number of elements, thus cardinal number of equal sets are equal, thus all equal sets are equivalent but an equivalent set’s cardinal number are equal but the elements may not be equal as we discussed above in the equivalent set.
Which is the equivalent set C or D?
If C = { x : x is positive integer } and D = { d : d is a natural number }, then C is equivalent to D. All the null sets are equivalent to each other. If A and B are two sets such that A = B, then A is equivalent to B. This means that two equal sets will always be equivalent but the converse of the same may or may not be true.
